定义

论断，是指以一实例证明一种性质、属性或特性这对其一切同类型事物都是真的的断定或肯定。在汉语中，论断常具有如下几种意思。第一层意思是推论、判断。 明代唐顺之的《万古斋公传》这样说到，“然至疑难处，辄掩卷自思，及有所得，多出儒先论断之外。”清代顾炎武的《日知录·史记于序事中寓论断》则叙道，“古人作史，有不待论断，而于序事之中，即见其指者，惟太史公能之。”阿英的《关于＜中国小说史略＞》也曾这样运用论断一词，“在研究过程中，怎样探索倾向影响，阐明艺术特征，然后自抒卓见，作出合理的分析论断。”论断的第二层含义是指论证、断定。杨伯峻的《＜春秋左传注＞前言》道，“论断《左传》成书年代，首先要引 崔述 《洙泗考信録馀録》。”论断的第三层含义是判决罪案。《明史·刑法志一》指出，“其杂犯大小之罪，悉依赎罪例论断。”汉语中，论断的第四层含义是指对某人不怀好意的说些加枝添叶的事，或背后说他人的坏话等（阮智富等，2009:515）。
