定义

劳动模范简称劳模，在社会主义建设事业中成绩卓著的劳动者，经职工民主评选，有关部门审核和政府审批后被授予的荣誉称号。劳动模范分为全国劳动模范与省、部委级劳动模范，有些市、县和大企业也评选劳动模范。授予劳动模范称号应符合一定条件和程序。计划经济条件下，劳动模范强调一种精神上的榜样和模范，给社会一种道德感召，给劳动着一种精神激励，主要体现了劳动模范的社会价值。在新的历史时期，劳动模范的价值不仅体现在社会价值上，而且也体现在经济价值上。劳动模范中企业家、科学家、发明家等，他们是社会财富的创造者、科学技术的带头人、技术创新的领头人、社会生产力的推进者。同时，自20世纪末期出现“劳动模范经济”现象以来，劳动模范的社会价值和经济价值的结合逐步呈现出来。2005年全国总工会颁布的《关于推荐全国劳动模范和先进工作者的通知》，对评价标准做了适当修订，“无私奉献”已经不再是衡量劳动模范的关键指标,“对事业有突出贡献”成了评选的首要标准。具体来说，现在的标准中更强调了劳动者的敬业精神、创新精神、职业道德和技能。评价标准更加科学合理，综合考虑了新时期劳动者的特点（潘军，赵国洪，2007：11-13）。
