定义

劳动市场是指厂商与个人为了从事某种工作，对劳动和劳务进行交易活动、进而确定劳动者现行工资水平的场所。
　在现实经济生活中，劳动者的流动方式和流动范围往往不同，使劳动和劳务的供求关系表现出不同的特点，由此可将劳动市场区分为“地方劳动市场”、“外部劳动市场”和“内部劳动市场”等几种不同的类型。其中“地方劳动市场”是指按地理位置对劳动者的流动进行划分的市场；“外部劳动市场”是指在企业外部由于大量待业工人构成的市场；“内部劳动市场”是指企业不通过外部劳动市场，而通过对内部劳动者的重新安排和调整，来解决它的劳动需求。
　另外，按照不同的市场条件和结构，还可以将劳动市场区分为竞争条件下的劳动市场和非竞争条件下的劳动市场。在竞争条件下的劳动市场中，由于存在许多买者和卖者，谁也没有足够的力量能影响工资，因此工资水平完全取决于劳动市场的一般均衡状况。
　微观经济学认为，竞争条件下的劳动市场分析具有理论意义，而非竞争条件下劳动市场分析则具有现实意义。所谓非竞争条件下的劳动市场一方面是指由一个或几个雇主形成的买方垄断力量，他们通过采取暗中协议、实行某种工资政策等手段，将工资压至由竞争所决定的工资水平之下；另一方面是指以工会为代表的“卖方垄断”力量，通过举行罢工，限制劳动供给量，对买方垄断力量进行抵抗，从而使工资能够接近甚至高于竞争条件下的工资水平（胡代光，1996：91-92）。
