经济斗争指为自身经济利益而进行的各种形式的斗争，通常是指被统治阶级为争取经济利益而进行的斗争。它与政治斗争的区别主要看斗争目的，有些情况是这样的，开始是经济斗争后来逐渐转为政治斗争，经济斗争的形式包括罢工、示威游行等，也有采用武装斗争形式的，但是所有经济斗争取得成功的最根本的方法只能采取以夺取政权为目的的政治斗争（via：http://baike.so.com/doc/418217-442933.html）。关于工人阶级政治斗争与经济斗争的关系,马克思主义认为,工人阶级经济斗争在一定意义上是有积极作用的,但也有其无法克服的局限性,工人阶级要取得彻底解放,必须进行推翻资本主义制度的政治斗争（赵福浩，2009：72）。马克思主义经典作家是主张无产阶级的解放必须进行旨在推翻资产阶级统治的政治斗争的，但工人阶级的经济斗争也是他们极为关注的一种重要斗争形式。工人与资本家的经济斗争，其实也就是工人与资本家的竞争。在资本主义经济生活中,人与人之间的竞争主要归结为工人与资本家之间的竞争、工人之间的竞争和资本家之间的竞争这三种形式。其中,工人与资本家的竞争是主要矛盾,其他两种竞争则制约和影响着这一主要竞争的过程和结果。而经济斗争往往与政治斗争相伴始终，经济斗争一定程度上意味着工人阶级在物质上的觉醒，经济斗争也吹响了工人阶级推翻资产阶级的号角。
