定义

第一实体，也作第一本体，是古希腊哲学家亚里士多德“实体学说”中的概念，指个体。亚里士多德在其《范畴篇》中，把实体分为第一实体与第二实体。第一实体指个别事物，第二实体指包含个别事物的属和种，当对个别事物进行研究时，实体的指向是物质或质料实体和形式实体以及质料与形式的综合物，它既不是一个主体，又不存在于一个主体之中（金炳华，2003：81）。亚里士多德认为，第一实体是一切对象的基础，第二性实体离不开第一实体而存在，如果没有第一实体,就不可能有其他东西存在，第一实体是最根本的，决定其他一切，这在一定程度上摆脱了古希腊早期哲学家用具体物质形态来说明事物本源的局限性。概括来说，第一实体具有四层含义，“在范畴上，第一实体指的是个别事物；在原理上和定义上，第一实体是其所是的是；在认识上，普遍可以成为第一实体；在最初因上，神是第一实体”（陆杰荣，牛小侠，2008：1）。
