定义

与“抽象化”相对。指“形象化”，以具体可感的形式表现出生活、思想和感情。具象化指将抽象的事物以具体鲜明的形象展示出来，是艺术思维的重要特征和艺术创作的基本美学原则。艺术创作的感受、素材，来自丰富多彩的生活形象；艺术思维是融和着形象的思维；对生活的再现、表现，也需外化为具体的形象才能完成自我建构，为欣赏者所感知。南朝梁钟嵘说：“气之动物，物之感人，故摇荡性情，形诸舞咏。”明末王夫之说：“形则心成象矣，象者象其形矣。……视之则形也，察之则象也”，都强调了精神、情感的建构，要通过具体的物象、形象来寄寓、体现。黑格尔认为艺术的内容应该有符合它的一种感性、个别、具体、完整的形式和形象。具象化反对把艺术变成某种抽象观念的赤裸裸表现或图解，要求创造直接诉诸人的感官的有美学价值的形象。它可以表现在按照生活本来的样子来塑造的具有象形性的形象之中，也可以表现在对生活变形、夸张和纯属想像创造的形象之中；还可以把抽象的内心情感予以具象的表现（金炳华，2003：634）。总之，具象化也就是把抽象的东西表现得很具体。简单地说，就是把看不见的、不容易理解的，变得看得见、容易理解。而后者通常是人们对前者比较直观的印象，能代表前者。例如，鲁迅在《无常》中指出“至于勾摄生魂的使者的这无常先生，却似乎于古无征，……大概这意思传到中国之后，人们便将他具象化了。”
