定义

劳动资料是劳动过程中“劳动者置于自己和劳动对象之间、用来把自己的活动传导到劳动对象上去的物或物的综合体”（马克思，1975：203）。简言之，劳动资料就是劳动者和劳动对象之间的传导物，劳动资料在本质上是人的天然器官的劳动功能和自然物质的材料的统一。一方面，劳动资料是人的天然器官的劳动功能的物化。劳动资料是属于劳动主体的，它不过是劳动者达到或实现自己目的的桥梁、媒介和手段；另一方面，劳动资料又是自然物质的劳动功能化。人工器官不是长在人身上，而是人的身外之物。劳动资料都是“物或物的综合休’，是改变了形态的自然物，所以，从根本上说，没有自然物质，也就不会有劳动资料。劳动资料的结构或类型，随着历史的发展不断变化着，在不同的时代具有不同的结构。总的趋势是愈来愈复杂，愈来愈多样化。马克思在《资本论》“劳动过程”一节中，按照当时劳动资料的构成状况，把劳动资料分为四类：第一，劳动工具，如石器工具、手工工具、工具机等。它所加强和代林的是人的肢休，所以马克思称之为“生产的骨骼系统”。第二，人所能掌握的自然能及其载休，如畜力、风力及风车、水力及水车、煤及蒸汽机、电及电机等。它所代林的是人的肌肉，所以马克思称之为“生产的肌肉系统”。第三，劳动对象容器，如管、桶、篮、罐等，马克思称之为“生产的脉管系统”。第四，劳动所需的其它物质条件，如厂房、运河、道路等（贾贵生，1991：14-15）。
