全称为国民革命军第八路军，中国人民解放军的前身之一（八路军（国民革命军第八路军）.via：http://baike.baidu.com/subview/13827/4869867.htm）。八路军是抗日战争时期中国共产党领导的人民军队，由陕甘宁地区的红军主力部队改编而成。八路军总指挥是朱德，副总指挥是彭德怀，参谋长是叶剑英，副参谋长是左权，政治部主任是任弼时，副主任是邓小平。八路军下辖一一五师、一二〇师和一二九师，师长分别为林彪、贺龙、刘伯承。此外，由各主力红军抽调部分部队组成八路军后方留守处，主任为肖劲光。1937年8月29日，中共中央决定：八路军前方部队设立军委分会，朱德任书记，彭德怀任副书记，任弼时任秘书长，受中央军委领导，作为华北八路军最高领导机构。9月11日，按照国民革命军战斗序列，八路军改称为第十八集团军。在朱德和彭德怀的率领下，八路军主力先后由陕西东渡黄河，开赴山西抗日前线。然后深入华北敌后，以游击战为主，坚持抗战到胜利。抗战时期，八路军共作战10万余次，毙伤俘日伪军135万人，建立了晋察冀、晋绥、晋冀豫、冀鲁豫、山东等大片抗日根据地（尚海等，1991：486）。
