定义

道德品质也称“德性”，简称“品德”，是个人在道德行为中所表现出来的比较稳定的、一贯的特点和倾向，是表征个人道德的总体特点的范畴。道德品质是一个综合性范畴，包括许多构成因素，有着复杂的结构，主要有道德认识、道德情感、道德意志、道德信念、道德行为和道德习惯，这些要素构成一个稳定的集合体、这个集合体的各个基本要素是作为相互联系相互依存的发展过程而存在的（胡丁慧，2010：9）。道德品质具有时代性和阶级性，从一定意义上讲，任何时代﹑任何民族﹑任何社会的道德原则规范体系的构建、道德教育系统的形成、道德评价活动的进行、道德修养的践履，其最终目的不外乎是要使某种道德原则和规范深入人心，由外在的要求内化为人内在的自觉道德意识，变成人们日常生活的行为习惯，形成道德品质（沈雷，2007：23）。在中国社会主义时期，最高尚的、最能体现无产阶级和广大劳动人民利益的是共产主义道德品质。
