定义

经济共同体又称经济体，是指对某个区域的经济组成进行统称和划分，经济体可以指一个地区，如台湾地区，或地区内的国家群体，如欧盟，东盟等。经济体内部出现经济问题或困难时，常常采取统一的货币与财政政策，应对危机，共度时艰。目前，世界上比较大的经济共同体有亚太经济共同体、欧洲经济共同体，北美经济共同体等。经济共同体的建立旨在消除或降低地区或国家间贸易壁垒，保证各国经济和社会的进步，不断改善人民生活和就业的条件，并通过共同贸易政策促进国际交换。东盟经济共同体是一个较大的区域经济共同体，它在促进东南亚国家经济发展方面越来越扮演更为重要的角色。东盟经济共同体已经明确提出一体化的目标，即把东盟变成一个统一的市场和生产基地，并在其框架下实现货物、服务、投资和技术工人的自由流动，从而使其成为一个竞争力强的经济区，一个经济平衡发展的经济区，一个与全球经济接轨的经济区（刘鸣，2012：81）。经济共同体在促进地区稳定、成员国经济发展和国际人道主义方面具有重要的作用。
