定义

否定，即事物内部的否定方面，与“肯定”相对，是指事物中存在的促使事物灭亡的方面，是促使事物转化为他事物的方面。否定是事物发展辩证过程的本质环节之一。（张永谦，1989：67）唯物辩证法认为，任何事物的内部都包含有肯定和否定这两个对立方面。否定方面的作用在于破坏现存的事物，促使其转化为他物。在事物的发展过程中，一旦否定的方面取得支配地位，事物就向自己的对立面转化，从而达到对其自身的否定。（李淮春，1996：156）恩格斯所指出，“辩证法在对现存事物的肯定的理解中同时包含对现存事物的否定的理解，即对现存事物的必然灭亡的理解”。（马克思，恩格斯，2012：95）人们将包含肯定于自身的否定称为“辩证的否定”否定离不开肯定，否定与肯定相互依赖、相互包含、相互规定。任何否定中都包含着肯定，且在一定意义上，否定就是肯定。辩证法不仅从静态的角度揭示否定与肯定的相互联结，而且将否定理解为从旧质中产生出新质，指出否定是事物发展的本质环节，否定是事物内在矛盾作用的结果，否定比事物发展的肯定的环节具有更为丰富的含义和内容，因而更能体现事物发展的辩证性质。（李淮春，1996：156）。
