马克思主义信仰是一种科学信仰，从整个社会来说，它所追求的是共产主义理想，从每个社会个体来说，它所追求的是每个人自由、全面、充分的发展。马克思主义信仰，从定义上来看，它主要是指以工人阶级为核心的广大劳动人民对马克思主义的基本原理、马克思主义所蕴含的价值性、马克思主义所确立的阶段性目标及其终极理想等的由衷的相信与信奉，并以之作为他们的行为准则和终生奋斗目标（徐俊等，2011：111）。马克思主义信仰与一般意义上的宗教信仰有着很大的不同，马克思主义是关于全人类解放的学说，为人们实践活动提供科学的世界观和方法论指导，是绝大多数人争取自身解放的理论武器。而绝大多数的宗教信仰，以承认现实世界之外存在着某种超自然的力量和实体存在为前提，并且认为这种超自然的力量和实体可以主宰人们的生活和命运，使宗教信仰者对被信仰对象产生由衷的敬畏之情。马克思主义传入中国后，中国共产党人以马克思主义为信仰，进行了一系列救亡图存和民族复兴的壮举。马克思主义信仰的中国化是马克思主义中国化向深层次推进的必然要求，是其完整性内涵的固有之意（徐俊等，2011：111）。马克思主义中国化的理论成果—毛泽东思想、邓小平理论、“三个代表”重要思想、科学发展观，不断将社会主义事业推向前进。
