定义

对所信奉之超自然体加以尊崇和敬拜。它是宗教的基本要素之一。准宗教现象（法术、占卜等）设想对所信超自然体或超自然力加以控制掌握，但不崇拜。许多唯心主义哲学也明确承认包括神灵在内的超自然体的存在，却不涉及崇拜行为。按照不同的崇拜对象，可对不同的宗教进行分类。例如，自然宗教有自然崇拜，部落宗教有图腾崇拜，文明社会的宗教有偶像崇拜、神灵崇拜等。崇拜的目的主要在于对所信奉对象进行感恩和祈求；为此而发展出各种仪式，以及主持这类仪式的专职人员，如祭司、僧侣等（金炳华，2002：699）。
