经济体制指在一定区域内（通常为一个国家）制定并执行经济决策的各种机制的总和。通常指国家经济组织的形式，它规定了国家与企业、企业与企业、企业与各经济部门之间的关系，并通过一定的管理手段和方法来调控或影响社会经济流动的范围、内容和方式等。经济体制除了指整个国民经济的管理体制外，还包括各行各业如农业、工业、商业、交通运输等等各自的管理体制，此外各个不同企业的企业管理体制也属于经济体制的范围。评价一个经济体制的优劣通常以资源是否得到了合理配置、利用和满足为标准。划分经济体制有多种，其中一种是按资源占有方式与资源配置方式的组合分类，经济体制是资源占有方式与资源配置方式的组合，资源占有方式可抽象为公有制与私有制两种，资源配置方式可抽象为计划配置与市场配置两种，这样，就可把经济体制划分为四大类，即公有制计划经济体制、私有制计划经济体制、公有制市场经济体制、私有制市场经济体制，这四类体制可以基本反映现实体制模式（via: http://baike.baidu.com/view/64883.htm）。经济体制改革是中国改革开放最重要的内容之一，解决经济体制的结构性矛盾一直是政府努力的方向所在。十八大以来，改革进入深化发展阶段。在后改革时代，深化经济体制改革的核心是理顺政府与市场之间的关系。 这既是市场经济理论发展的内在逻辑，也被我国改革开放以来的实践经验所证实，更是后改革时代化解我国经济社会矛盾的必然选择（白永秀，王颂吉，2013：16）。
