定义

中国和平发展道路是中国社会发展的国际战略。2005年年底，中国政府发表《中国的和平发展道路》白皮书，阐述了中国走和平发展之路的立场和决心。实现和平发展，是中国人民的真诚愿望和不懈追求。近代以来的历史反复说明,一个后兴大国的崛起,往往导致国际格局和世界秩序的急剧变动,甚至引发大战。这里一个重要原因,就是后兴大国走了一条依靠发动侵略战争打破原有国际体系,实行对外扩张以争夺霸权的道路。而这样的道路,总是以失败告终。在和平与发展时期,我们强调的是走和平发展之路。多年来,中国政府和中国人民为争取和平的国际环境进行了不懈努力,十分珍惜世界上爱好和平与追求进步的国家和人民共同奋斗得来的和平国际环境,坚持聚精会神搞建设,一心一意谋发展,并通过自身的发展,不断为世界的和平与发展增添积极因素,促进人类文明进步事业的发展。建设一个持久和平、共同繁荣的和谐世界,是世界各国人民的共同心愿,是中国走和平发展道路的崇高目标。维护世界和平、促进共同发展是中国外交政策的宗旨。为了建设和谐世界，中国政府努力做到：政治上相互尊重、平等协商，共同推进国际关系民主化；经济上相互合作、优势互补，共同推动经济全球化朝着均衡、普惠、共赢方向发展；文化上相互借鉴、求同存异，尊重世界多样性，共同促进人类文明繁荣进步；安全上相互信任、加强合作，坚持用和平方式而不是战争手段解决国际争端，共同维护世界和平稳定；环保上相互帮助、协力推进，共同呵护人类赖以生存的地球家园。提倡创新发展模式，走可持续发展道路，促进人与自然和谐发展。通过坚持走和平发展道路，中国同各大国的关系保持总体稳定，极大改善了与周边国家的关系，进一步深化了和广大发展中国家的传统友谊，为国内加快现代化建设、全面建设小康社会争取了稳定、有利的国际环境，同时也对人类进步事业产生了重要的推动作用。（中国和平发展道路.via:http://baike.sogou.com/v63369730.htm）
