定义

艺术哲学是西方传统美学理论之一，具体是指艺术的哲学研究。艺术哲学这一概念最早由黑格尔在美学名著《艺术哲学》中提出，后来学界便把艺术哲学作为美学的同义语来看待。学术史上把整个科学分为一般哲学、理论科学和应用科学三大类。一般哲学又分为数理哲学、自然哲学、人生哲学和文化哲学。艺术哲学同教育哲学、法哲学、政治哲学、道德哲学同属于文化哲学，艺术哲学是研究美的一般本质和规律的科学。多数学者则认为前者只着重研究艺术的哲学问题，后者则要研究人类所有审美活动的规律，研究现实生活中的一切审美现象。但是，法国哲学家丹纳的则将美学与艺术哲学相区分，认为艺术的本质与“作为美学的艺术哲学有相通之处，但主要是艺术理论，并同美学一道为文艺美学奠定了理论基础。”（金炳华，2003：707）
