在网络管理中，共同体就是一个字符串，作为管理进程和代理进程之间的明文口令，常用的是6个字符“public”。人们在共同条件下结成的集体。它是由若干国家在某一方面组成的集体组织。如同欧盟。在爱情方面，指最具同心力的一个集体。双方具有非常深厚的感情基础。可以做到同荣誉，同命运，同生活。是当代爱情应有的一个方向。例如张赵共同体。任何共同体，本质上都是利益共同体，这个利益可以经济利益、政治利益、文化利益、心理利益等等。当今，Community一词最普遍的意义是“社会”，衍生意义“居民”、“地区”，但是，“团体”这个含义才是该词的原义。一种说法是该词语出拉丁词汇Communit(团体)，还有一种说法是该词的真正源头和Common(普通的，公共的)一样是Communis(共同)一词，换而言之出现Community这个词纯属偶然，只是简简单单地拿Com-词缀和Unity(联合)做了一个加法(共同联合?)，不过无论该词的源头究竟是哪个，毫无疑问，最早的时候该词的意思是“公众团体”，直到Middle English时代才派生出Communite(公民)这样一类衍生词汇。（《共同体》，via: http://baike.so.com/doc/9022006-9351681.html）。其中较出名的是欧洲共同体。它是西欧国家推行欧洲经济、政治一体化，并具有一定超国家机制和职能的国际组织。欧洲煤钢共同体、欧洲原子能共同体和欧洲经济共同体的总称。又称欧洲共同市场，简称欧共体(European Communities)（《欧洲共同体》，via: http://baike.so.com/doc/4714319-4928846.html）。
