定义

科学语言是科学思维和表述、加工、传递、记录科学知识的重要工具。是以科学语词(词汇)为建筑材料，以一定的逻辑规则或数学规则构成的体系。其科学性主要取决于科学词汇所表示的独立概念同感觉世界的客观对象的对应程度，即取决于科学抽象的程度。因此，抽象程度高的科学语言比抽象程度低的、表示同一意义的科学语言更具有科学性。主要类型有：(1)自然语言。即人类在历史发展中逐渐形成的各种民族语言；(2)符号语言。即用特定的符号描述对象的一种语言类型，是近代和现代精确科学应用的主要语言；(3)形式化语言。是采用一组没有直观含义的符号、代码，来代替自然语言中的主词、宾词、联词、量词、命题连接词等，根据一定的形成规则、公理和推理规则即变形规则组成的语言形式体系。正用人工语言代替日常语言。逻辑实证主义学派中以卡尔纳普为代表的派别，从认识论角度将科学知识系统所应用的语言分为三类：逻辑语言和数学语言、观察语言(亦称物理语言)、理论语言。认为观察语言描写可直接观察的物体或物体性质，例如“水”、“热的”等等；理论语言是这些现象描述的缩写，它涉及的实体是不可观察的，例如“质量”、“电荷”等等（彭漪涟等，2010）。
