定义

不间断性是黑格尔作为他的哲学体系中“量”的范畴的环节或基本属性提出来的，亦译“非连续性”。它指事物运动的无限连续性、事物的整体联系性，表明事物的组成成分、存在状态和各个发展阶段之间的联系和统一。黑格尔认为，任何“量”都包含着一个一个的单位，这是“量”的间断性。同时，这些单位又必然联系在一起，构成同一的“量”，这是“量”的不间断性。间断的量和不间断的量是不可分的，它们互相规定。由于黑格尔所说的“量”是脱离客观事物的纯逻辑概念，所以带有浓厚的唯心主义色彩。马克思主义哲学认为，间断性和不间断性是客观事物的普遍属性。一切事物都是由一定质的、大小不等的、复杂性各不相同的单个物构成的绝对不可分的单纯实体，任何事物都具有一定的内部结构。这就是事物的间断性。同时，所有的原素、因子等等又不是孤立存在的。它总是处在这种或那种联系中，形成一个整体，表现出事物的不间断性。如原子组成分子，分子组成动植物的细胞，相距遥远的恒星互相联系而成为星系等等。通常所说的“系统”、“体系”、“统一体”等等概念，就是对事物的不间断性的反映（金炳华等，2001：627-628）。
