定义

社会必要劳动时间，“个别劳动时间”的对称，是指决定商品价值量的劳动时间。马克思认为“社会必要劳动时间是在现有的社会正常的生产条件下，在社会平均的劳动熟练程度和劳动强度下制造某种使用价值所需要的劳动时间”（马克思，转引自宋涛，1988：496）。社会必要劳动时间总是和社会劳动生产率成反比，与商品的价值量成正比，但是和价值总量无关，产生的影响有：（1）提高个别劳动生产率的意义为：由于商品的价值量是由生产该商品的社会必要劳动时间决定的，当个别商品生产者提高劳动生产率后，生产商品的个别劳动时间就低于社会必要劳动时间，同一劳动在同一时间内生产的使用价值增加，同一劳动在同一时间内创造的价值总量也增加，个别商品生产者就可以获得额外利润。所以，企业提高劳动生产率，从而缩短个别劳动时间，直接关系到自己的前途、命运。（2）提高社会劳动生产率的意义：各部门、各行业劳动生产率的提高，缩短社会必要劳动时间，必将引起社会劳动生产率的提高。社会劳动生产率提高后，同一劳动在同一时间内所生产的使用价值量增多，社会财富增多，从而能够满足人们日益增长的物质和文化生活的需要。社会劳动生产率提高，单位商品的价值量下降，商品的价格下降，人们可以买到更多物美价廉的商品。所以，“社会必要劳动时间范畴，对商品生产者具有十分重要意义”（彭克宏，1989：654）。
