定义

道德模范产生于某一社会和某一思想文化中、体现一定社会与一定阶级的理想人格或道德理想的典范。道德模范可以道德领域里涌现出来的先进典型、模范人物，也可以是一定社会道德实践活动中涌现出来的、凝聚了特定历史时期人们的共同理想追求。道德模范都具有崇高的道德品质和令人敬佩的行为或道德理想,是值得学习效仿的先进典型,代表着社会倡导的价值取向。道德模范由于集中地体现了当时社会及其思想文化的基本特征，具有高尚的道德人格和崇高的道德理想，同时又体现出对人的本质和人的价值的全面认识，因而被人们所敬仰和效仿，从而起到教化人们乃至提高全社会道德水平的作用。道德模范是社会发展和时代需要的产物,是历史性与现实性的统一，无论是古代还是现代，无论是西方还是中国，在人类社会任何一个历史时期生产生活的各个领域，都树立过当时的道德模范（覃正爱，2016：41-42）。我国公民道德建设的实践证明，发挥道德典范、道德榜样的引领和示范作用是提高公民道德水平的一个有效途径。从我国社会发展现实来看，道德模范是社会主义核心现代化的标杆，引领着我国公民道德建设的价值观导向，而坚持和提倡什么样的价值观，直接影响着我国公民道德建设的进程和成效。
