德国黑格尔哲学体系的第二部分，由逻辑学转化而来，与逻辑学、精神哲学构成正反合的三一体的关系，在自然哲学的考察完毕时，由于人的精神的出现而转到精神哲学。自然哲学已不是考察纯粹概念的领域，而是对具体事物的考察。黑格尔认为事物就是思想，演绎思想与演绎事物是一样的，客观思想的演绎发现了事物。自然哲学是逻辑学的继续，它们都涉及到思想，但两者是对立的，不同的。其不同点在于逻辑学所运用的具体概念适用于一切事物，它们普遍适用于一切活动范围，而自然哲学的概念则是适用于某些事物而不是适用于一切事物。逻辑学的质、量等范畴是一切事物均有的，而自然哲学中的无机物、植物、动物则是完全不同的共相，逻辑学范畴是非感性的共相，自然哲学的概念则是感性的共相。自然哲学也与逻辑学一样，从最空洞最抽象的概念开始，演绎出越来越具体的发展形式，从低级形式发展到高级形式。它由力学、物理学、有机物理学三个阶段构成。在力学阶段，逻辑理念还内在于自身，它外化为空间、时间、物质的体系，这一体系的各部分互不相关，表现为盲目的没有统一性的多样性，它们由绝对机械性支配，其对统一性的追求表现为万有引力。它是思想的内在性原则，试图把盲目的多样性纳入一个系统之中。由力学转入物理学，它讨论的不再是个别的东西，如太阳、地球、月亮，而是这些物体的几何学的力学的关系，并考察它们的质与特性，这就引起了对无机自然界的形式和种的研究。由物理学转到有机物理学是通过化学过程而完成的，它经过了地质有机体、植物有机体、动物有机体三个层次。地质有机体还是无生命的存在，植物有机体显示部分地归结为系统的统一的自然的多样性，但它们是不相干的，一部分可以履行另一部分的作用，不存在系统的分化与整体化。动物有机体中主观性回复到自然体中，自然明确地进入了意识的形式，而在人身上，则主观性变成自由的自我，因而进入了精神哲学的阶段。（金炳华，2003:22）
