《毛泽东选集》毛泽东的主要著作集。共4卷。中共中央毛泽东选集出版委员会编辑。编入毛泽东民主革命时期的著作158篇。第1卷为第一次国内革命战争时期和第二次国内革命战争时期的著作，第2卷和第3卷为抗日战争时期的著作，第4卷为解放战争时期的著作。毛泽东亲自主持了编辑工作，对编入的著作作了一些文字修改和个别内容的修改，写了一些具有重要理论价值和史料价值的题解和注释。《毛泽东选集》由人民出版社出版，1951年10月出版第1卷，1952年3月出版第2卷，1953年2月出版第3卷，1960年9月出版第4卷。1990年5月，中共中央决定在建党70周年由中共中央文献编辑委员会修订出版《毛泽东选集》第二版。修订工作按照毛泽东1962年关于修订《毛泽东选集》的意见进行。保持了原有的篇目，仅增加《反对本本主义》一篇;对正文，只校订少量有误的史实、不准确的词语和错漏字;注释主要是核订史实和修改不准确的提法，并增加了一些新注。邓小平为《毛泽东选集》第二版题写书名。第二版于1991年7月由人民出版社出版。《毛泽东选集》是毛泽东思想的集中代表，为学习和研究毛泽东思想提供了最主要的文献，在中国共产党和中国人民中产生了重大而深远的影响。（金炳华，2003：821）
