定义

庸俗发展观，又称“庸俗进化论”，是产生于19世纪末20世纪初的一种资产阶级形而上学发展观，主要通过把达尔文的生物进化学说进行庸俗化而形成，主要代表是英国哲学家、社会学家斯宾塞。庸俗进化论的基本主张包括，“认为自然界现存的秩序是一种渐进过程的产物，并且把这种渐进性当作一般的公式，提高为宇宙的根本规律，并引到社会科学领域里来。”（金炳华，2003：235）。它抹煞事物发展中的对立统一关系，否定对立面的斗争；只承认事物发展中的量变和渐变，否认事物发展中的质变和突变；否认事物内部矛盾是发展的根本原因；把生物进化论片面化、绝对化，并用它来解释社会历史现象，抹煞社会历史的特殊性，主张逐渐进化、点滴改良和阶级调和，反对阶级斗争和社会革命。在中国康有为最早将欧洲的庸俗进化论传入中国，他强调变化的观点。胡适则以庸俗进化论来对抗唯物辩证法，否认革命。庸俗进化论是资产阶级改良主义者和机会主义者的一种理论基础，是资产阶级用来对抗唯物辩证法、麻痹劳动人民、反对无产阶级社会革命、维护其反动统治的工具。实证主义、新康德主义、马赫主义、实用主义等哲学流派都是庸俗进化论的宣扬者。庸俗进化论把事物的量变、进化加以庸俗化，不能说明事物所以千差万别的根本原因，是反科学的理论。
