共产国际(俄语:Коммунистический интернационал；简称“Коминтерн”)又名第三国际(俄语:Третий интернационал)，是一个共产党和共产主义组织的国际组织。1919年3月4日在列宁领导下成立，总部设于苏联莫斯科。1943年5月15日，共产国际执行委员会主席团作出《关于提议解散共产国际的决定》，并于5月25日公开宣布《解散共产国际的决议》，声言这是为了适应反法西斯战争的发展，便于各国共产党独立处理问题。5月26日，中共中央发表决定，完全同意解散共产国际（《共产国际》，via: http://baike.so.com/doc/5978049-6191010.html）。1919年3月，列宁领导创建的世界各国共产党和共产主义团体的国际联合组织，总部位于莫斯科。第一次世界大战爆发后，第二国际破产，十月革命的胜利，促进了各国共产党的建立，客观形势要求建立新的国际组织。1919年3月2日在莫斯科召开了国际共产主义代表会议，有来自21个国家的35个政党和团体的52名代表参加。大会通过了《告国际无产阶级宣言》、《共产国际行动纲领》、《关于资产阶级民主和无产阶级专政的提纲》等文件，宣告第三国际成立。它的任务是宣传马克思主义，团结世界各国工人阶级和广大劳动人民，为推翻资产阶级的统治，建立无产阶级专政，消灭剥削制度而斗争。它以民主集中制为组织原则，最高权力机关是代表大会，各国共产党是它的支部。代表大会闭会期间，由代表大会选出的执行委员会负责向各国支部发布指示和监督他们的工作。(《共产国际》，via: http://wenda.so.com/q/1366352255061848?src=150)。
