定义

同一属概念中三个以上同级种概念之间的关系，这几个具有并列关系的概念就叫做并列概念。并列概念的外延有相容和不相容的区别，因此，概念的并列关系也就有相容并列关系和不相容并列关系之分。其中，相容并列关系是同一属概念中三个以上同级种概念两两相交叉的关系，例如：“小说家”、“诗人”、“散文家”是“作家”中的同级的种概念，但是，三者是可以相互交叉的，有的“小说家”是“诗人”，有的“诗人”是“散文家”，有的“散文家”是“小说家”，还有的三者全是。不相容并列关系则是指同一属概念中三个以上同级种概念两两相排斥的关系。例如：“红色”、“绿色”、“黄色”是“颜色”属概念中的同级种概念，但是，三个概念的外延就互相排斥（刘新友，1988：45）。对并列关系的理解应当注意以下几点：其一，并列关系是一个属概念中的种概念之间的关系，而不是属概念与种概念之间的关系。第二，并列关系要求并列概念是同一层次的概念，不是同一层次的概念不能看成是并列关系。第三，划分并列关系中的相容与不相容的唯一依据在于并列概念之间是交叉关系还是全异关系。但是，在有三个或三个以上并列概念的情况下，有时也不能笼统地断定它们都是相容并列关系或都是不相容并列关系，而应当根据具体情况作出具体分析（刘鸿钧，何应灿，彭汶，1985：24）。
