定义

政治，指一定的阶级或社会集团为了维护其根本利益，建立其阶级的统治，组织和巩固国家政权，并运用国家政权治理国家而进行的全部活动。政治的主要内容是处理阶级之间的斗争，包括处理阶级内部的关系、阶级与阶级之间的关系、民族关系和国际关系等等。政治的表现形式为代表一定阶级的政党或社会集团、社会势力在国家生活和国际关系方面的政策和活动。其中，掌握国家政权的党所制定的路线、方针、政策和决议，国家权力机关制定的国家制度、法律制度等，是政治的基本内容和最高表现。政治中最本质的东西是国家政权机构，政治革命是政治的最高行动。政治属于上层建筑，归根到底受经济基础的制约，政治是经济的集中表现，一定的政治总是在一定的经济基础上产生，为经济所决定，“一切政治变革的终极原因，存在于经济的变化之中；政治冲突、党派斗争的根本原因，在于经济发展所造成的各阶级和集团的利益冲突；政治权力只是经济权力的产物”（金炳华，2003：336）。但政治又具有相对独立性并反作用于经济，对经济的发展有巨大的影响。沿着经济发展同一方向的政治对经济起促进作用，沿着经济发展相反方向的政治对经济起阻碍作用。一个阶级的基本经济利益，在一定条件下，只有借助于政治斗争，才能得到实现。无产阶级政治是无产阶级根本利益的集中表现，大力发展社会主义生产力、正确处理一定范围内的阶级斗争、巩固无产阶级专政等等都是当前无产阶级政治的主要内容。
