《论三个代表》是江泽民关于“三个代表”思想的重要著作集。中共中央文献研究室编辑，中央文献出版社2001年8月出版。《论三个代表》反映了江泽民在科学判断中国共产党的历史方位的基础上，总结建党以来的历史经验特别是改革开放以来的新鲜经验，集中党的智慧，提出“三个代表”重要思想并逐步加以深化的发展过程，阐述了这一重要思想的科学内涵和精神实质。“三个代表”重要思想强调，中国共产党要始终代表中国先进生产力的发展要求，代表中国先进文化的前进方向，代表中国最广大人民的利益。始终做到“三个代表”，是中国共产党的立党之本、执政之基、力量之源。江泽民提出，要把党建设好，最根本的一条，就是要适应新形势、新任务的要求，把“三个代表”要求切实落实到党的思想建设、组织建设和作风建设中去，使我们党始终保持蓬勃的生机和活力，始终成为建设有中国特色社会主义的坚强领导核心。对以“三个代表”重要思想为指导，加强和改进党的建设，不断提高党的领导水平和执政水平、提高拒腐防变和抵御风险的能力，永远保持党的先进性；全面推进社会主义现代化建设的各项事业，不断完善和发展中国社会主义制度的各个方面，作了系统的论述。全书贯穿着解放思想、实事求是的思想路线，体现着马克思主义与时俱进的创新精神。
