定义

第一动者，也作第一推动者、不动的动者，是古希腊哲学家亚里士多德的哲学术语，指善﹑理性﹑神。亚里士多德在其著作《形而上学》第十二卷中，对第一动者作了表述，亚里士多德认为，运动是永恒的，因此必然有永恒的运动根源，这个根源本身是永恒不动的本体，不能再是运动的，否则就得再找个更高一级的动因。这个自身不动的永恒的动因，即为第一动者。亚里士多德认为，形式和质料、潜能与现实是相对的，事物的发展是质料形式化的过程，是潜能向现实转化的过程，也是从低级向高级发展的过程。从逻辑上讲，在发展的最高点就是不带任何质料的纯形式，即没有任何潜能的纯现实，不动的永恒的动因，这就是第一动者（善﹑理性或神）。这一思想在亚里士多德哲学中最具有神秘主义的色彩。中世纪经院哲学家主要利用亚里士多德的这部分思想宣扬宗教神学；后来西方许多唯心主义者也竭力宣扬亚里士多德的这部分思想（via:  http://baike.baidu.com/link?url=j44avBJIRPmJcBe9s4EBtGR6LO3ESOhWaTsOek8x68vjKKtfH4IU6oGxT6id2DbZ7gkoo-kFPOFE6WERv6w62a）。后来，第一动者被牛顿引申，用来代指最初推动一切行星由静止而开始运动的某种外来的力量。
