定义

技术密集型产业又称知识密集型产业，指需用复杂先进而又尖端的科学技术才能进行工作的生产部门和服务部门。从外延上看，技术密集型产业包含众多的各类产业,这些不同产业的共同特征是技术创新对其发展均具有重要影响。在制造业范围内,技术密集型产业主要指电子、电气、制药、化工、机械和运输设备等产业。它的技术密集程度，往往同各行业、部门或企业的机械化、自动化程度成正比，而同各行业、部门或企业所用手工操作人数成反比。技术密集型产业具有三方面的特点（1）设备、生产工艺建立在先进的科学技术基础上，资源消耗低；（2）科技人员在职工中所占比重较大，劳动生产率高；（3）产品技术性能复杂，更新换代迅速。从技术密集型产业的发展过程中经常可以看到的一个现象是：每个产业往往由一个或少数几个国家所支配，也就是说，一个或少数几个国家的某个产业通常在产品技术、工艺技术、生产组织形式或营销方式等方面明显领先于其他国家的同类产业并因此占据绝大部分国际市场份额。例如，美国的计算机产业和半导体产业，德国、美国、日本和瑞士的化工产业，美国、英国、瑞士及德国的制药产业，日本、德国及美国的机床产业，美国、日本和德国的诊断仪器产业等（吕铁，2003：13）。在中国，电子计算机工业，飞机和宇宙航天工业，原子能工业，大规模和超大规模集成电路工业，精密机床、数控机床、防止污染设施制造等高级组装工业，高级医疗器械，电子乐器等高级工业均属技术密集型产业。
