定义

同质化产品指不存在产品差别的产品。在一些市场上，不同企业生产的同品种、同规格产品基本上没有差异，即有完全的替代性，这些产品就是同质化产品，比如许多金属原材料，化工原材料产品就属于同质性产品（刘伟等，1994：236）。
高度同质化产品的主要特征：一是基本无视觉差异；二是基本无形态差异；三是微功能差异（即不同类型产品间的功能差别很小）；四是主要为非耐用品。往往具有相似的产品特性和特征，相近的产品特色和市场定位，相同的目标顾客和目标市场（周晓斌，娄炳林，2014：1）。
产品同质化加剧了企业间的竞争，面临有限的市场容量，集群内部企业往往竞相偷工减料、生产伪产品以次充好来降低生产成本，获取竞争优势。这些行为最终将在区域品牌原产区域内形成巨大的“柠檬市场”，严重损害区域品牌形象，并使其逐步走向没落。
产品的同质化，使得大量同质化的产品涌向市场，到处都是价格战，厂商一方面反对同行的压价竞争，同时自己也在为同质化做着贡献，谁也一时难以跳出同质化的怪圈。这种同质化现象，影响了企业的利润收入，没有足够的资金投入到产品的研发和品牌化建设，只能维持在一个相对不高的竞争水平之上，长期下去，同类行业的整体技术水平和产品质量很难有一个大的提高，严重影响了行业的良性化发展（产品同质化.via：
