定义

超泛神论是现代神学的一个基本概念，起源于新柏拉图主义。Pan-ne-theism一词在1809年第一次出现于德国唯心主义哲学家谢林的作品《论自由》，谢林和黑格尔通常被认为是现代超泛神论的“教父”。19世纪时期超泛神论在欧洲得到一定的传播。进入20世纪后，在A· N· 怀海德和C·哈茨霍恩的推动下超泛神论得以复兴并渐入人心。Panentheism这个单词由三个希腊词根构成：Pan—en—theism。字面意义是“一切都存在于上帝之中”（All in God）。也就是说上帝和宇宙（自然）之间的关系是上帝既内在于宇宙之中，又超在于宇宙之外。当泛神论强调上帝的内在性时，超泛神论强调上帝的超在性。当自然神论强调上帝的超在性时，超泛神论则强调上帝的内在性。就这一点而言，超泛神论综合了泛神论和自然神论。上帝不仅是内在的，而且也是超在的，这是超泛神论最根本的特点（郑鸿升，2011：69-70）。
