定义

人类对客观世界的认识，总是从模糊走向精确。传统的数学，以研究精确性作为支柱，也就是说，精确性是传统数学的根本特征，也是历史上各门自然科学追求的目标。在人们从小开始的数学训练中，教师要求严格的精确性，绝不许模棱两可。绝不许含含糊糊，似乎可以这样说，数学就是扬弃了模糊性而产生的。随着认识和实践的发展，特别是测量技术的发展，人们逐步觉察到，测量的精确性是有一定限度的。周恩来（1898—1976）在青年时曾说过：“人间万象真理，越求越模糊”，他富有哲理的说明，过分的精确就会转化为模糊。例如，用最好的分析天平称量，最后一位数字总存在着加减量的误差，也就是说，精确到最后一位数字就开始模糊了，而这种模糊又是包含着精确的模糊（王德胜，2002：274）。总结起来，精确性和模糊性是标志事物的确定性和非确定性、明晰性和非明晰性的范畴。也是认识各种事物“非此即彼”和“亦此亦彼”矛盾关系的反应。
