定义

科学文化为文化的一种形态。它是现代文化结构层次中基础的部分。最早把科学作为一种文化形态的观念，可以追溯到培根的《新大西岛》（1627）。18世纪中叶，法国启蒙思想家卢梭有意识地把科学置于艺术、道德、社会风尚的背景中加以批判。在现代，最早对科学进行文化分析的是德国哲学家、历史学家施本格勒。英国科学家、文学家斯诺(C. P. Snow)进一步明确提出“科学文化”与“人文文化”的概念。1959年，他在剑桥大学所作的题为“两种文化与科学革命”的讲演中指出：科学文化确实是一种文化，不仅是智力意义上的一种文化，而且是人类学意义上的一种文化(金炳华，2003：428)。科学文化的特征是：科学文化是一个认知过程，但它有别于认识的主体发展过程，科学文化是传统文化知识的一种生长物，但它具有特定的文化特征。科学作为认识形式的文化发展，其发展速度远比生物进化快得多，而且两者在本质上也有根本的差别（冯契，2001：738）。一个国家的科学发展不仅要靠科学技术的支撑，也需要科学文化的引领。科学文化与人文文化如车之双轮、鸟之两翼，共同推动人类历史发展，共同推进人类社会进步。文化建设除了重视人文文化，更不能忽视科学文化。在充分发挥文化的经济功能、发展文化产业的同时，更要重视文化的教育功能，推进诚信社会建设，在社会上逐渐形成尊重科学规律、尊重科技人才的良好氛围。科学技术快速发展的步伐却往往让人迷失自己，容易“见物不见人”，“重硬成果、轻软实力”，产生诸如急功近利、学术浮躁、科研不端等一些与科学精神、科学文化相悖的问题。究其原因，是由于缺乏求真务实的理性精神，而追求真理、实事求是正是科学文化、科学精神的精髓。现实中，表现为对科学文化的漠视，宣传普及严重不足。这种状况亟须转变（科学文化.via: http://digitalpaper.stdaily.com/http_www.kjrb.com/kjrb/html/2014-08/13/content_273307.htm?div=-1）。
