定义

科学合理性为科学哲学的主题之一。它是合理性在科学之中的集中体现以及对科学之本质的理解和追求。其内涵包括三个互相联系的方面：一是指事物的必然性。二是指理论逻辑上的必然性。三是指具备理性的评价原则和评价标准。科学合理性和科技进步密切相连。合理地说明科学进步必定是理性思维的产物，同时理性总是力图证明科学进步的合理性。科学哲学中的许多重大理论问题，诸如科学划界、科学发现、科学说明、科学评价、科学的真理性、科学发展的模式等。其实质都在于探求科学的合理性。它不仅涉及到“科学如何可能的”、“科学进步是何以可能的”、“科学究竟怎样成为理性的”这样的重大问题，而且关涉到社会之理智氛围的形成和科学精神的弘扬（金炳华，2003：382）。
