定义

辩证理性是与分析理性相对的哲学概念，是法国萨特在《辩证理性批判》一书中提出的重要逻辑学概念。萨特认为，分析理性是研究物理学、生物学等自然科学所用的分析方法，其基本的分析方式是通过分解事物为一系列简单的、已知的元素来解释事物及其形成过程。分析理性的主要作用是能够将动态的关系转变成静态的逻辑结构，将新事物还原为旧事物。萨特认为，由于人的活动与目的、选择、自由、计划、责任等等变化相联系，在这一领域中不断地涌现出不能被还原的新事物，因而分析理性不能用于研究人的活动、人类社会和人类历史。正是人的活动与目的的变化相联系，根据这种特点萨特主张用辩证理性来对待人的活动、人类社会和人类历史的全部问题。辩证理性的三对基本范畴是正题、反题（否定）和否定之否定，它能够很好地解释人的活动所产生的新事物及其过程，并且不把这种新事物还原为旧事物，也不把整体还原为部分。辩证理性表达了不可逆的运动，这种运动指向新事物的产生。萨特指出，当代马克思主义者混淆了历史领域和自然领域的规律，试图使整个宇宙都服从统一的辩证规律，其结果必然导致研究整个历史的机械方法论。萨特尖锐地批评当代马克思主义的研究患上了“贫血病”，因为它专注于历史的机械方法论而不再去关心人，对纷繁复杂的社会历史现象的解释力大大削弱。对此，萨特提倡要用存在主义的人学来补充马克思主义的辩证唯物主义，确立能够解释人的活动及其历史的辩证理性。萨特将辩证理性用于人类社会和人类历史领域其实质就是要否定自然辩证法并建立“历史辩证法”、“人学辩证法”。萨特写《辩证理性批判》一书的目的之一便是确定辩证理性的界限和基础，而该目的也是萨特哲学的理论任务（金炳华，2003：971）。
