定义

价格弹性亦称“价格弹性系数”，是指价格变动对供给和需求变化的反应程度。价格弹性可分为需求价格弹性、供给价格弹性、交叉价格弹性、预期价格弹性等类型。需求价格弹性是需求变动率与引起其变动的价格变动率的比率，反映商品价格与市场消费容量的关系，表明价格升降时需求量的增减程度，通常用需求量变动的百分数与价格变动的百分数的比率来表示，也可做图或列表示之；供给价格弹性是供给变动率与引起其变动的价格变动率的比率，反映价格与生产量的关系，表明价格升降时供给量的增减程度，通常用供给量变动百分数与价格变动百分数的比率衡量；交叉价格弹性又称交错价格弹性，是需求的变动率与替代品或补充品价格变动率的比率，表明某商品价格变动对另一商品需求量的影响程度；预期价格弹性是价格预期变动率与引起这种变动的当前价格变动率的比率，反映未来价格变动对当前价格的影响，用预期的未来价格的相对变动与当前价格的相对变动的比例表示（价格弹性.via：http://wiki.mbalib.com/wiki/%E4%BB%B7%E6%A0%BC%E5%BC%B9%E6%80%A7）。
　不同产品价格弹性大小不同。价格弹性较大的产品，价格变动后，供给量和需求量随之会出现较大的变动；价格弹性较小的产品，价格变动后，供给量和需求量的变动也会较小。一般地说，自然条件影响较大，生产周期较长，生产技术比较复杂的产品，价格的供给弹性较小；自然条件影响较小，生产周期较短，生产技术比较简单的产品，价格的供给弹性较大。对于价格的需求弹性来说，生活必需品的弹性小，非生活必需品的弹性大。与材料、能源产品的弹性相比，加工工业产品的弹性大；占消费支出比重小的产品弹性小，占消费支出比重大的产品弹性大（韩双林，1993：275-276）。
　在几何表达中，价格弹性e是供求量(Q)变化率同价格(P)变化率之比。 e=dQ/dP•P/Q=边际函数/平均函数。若|e|>1，则有弹性; 若|e|<1，则无弹性;若|e|=1，则为单一弹性（黄汉江,1990：295）。
