《社会进化史》中国蔡和森著。上海民智书局1924年出版。书共分四部分。绪论中概述了有史以来人类演进之程序—野蛮、半开化、文明三时期的各自特征;其余三部分就有关家族、财产和国家三者的起源和进化，在大量引证历史资料的基础上，分析、揭示了人类社会的发展规律，着重指出:“资本主义的大生产，不仅为将来共产主义社会准备了各种必要的条件，而且为她自己养成了最大多数的掘墓人—近世无产阶级”。进而断言:资本社会“必然崩溃”，“世界革命的成功，只是时间迟早的问题”。生动而通俗地宣传了科学社会主义的理论。入《蔡和森文集》。（金炳华，2003：908）《社会进化史》是蔡和森在20世纪20年代初任上海大学教授，讲授课程时的讲义。这本书是中国人以马克思主义唯物史观写成的第一部社会发展史，是此类著作的奠基之作。该书以摩尔根《古代社会》和恩格斯《家庭、私有制和国家的起源》为蓝本，运用达尔文的社会进化论，联系当时的中国革命和社会实际，用历史唯物主义方法分析了人类社会由野蛮到文明的历史过程，考察了家庭、私有制和国家的起源与发展，在大量引证历史资料的基础上，分析、揭示了人类社会的发展规律，在中国社会发展史研究上具有不可磨灭的贡献。（《社会进化史》.via: http://baike.sogou.com/v75861865.htm）
