定义

简称“民主革命”。有资产阶级领导的民主革命和无产阶级领导的民主革命。资产阶级领导的民主革命，即资产阶级革命，它以反对封建制度、建立资产阶级专政为主要内容。到帝国主义和无产阶级革命时代出现了无产阶级领导民主革命的条件。历史上第一次由无产阶级领导的民主革命是俄国1905-1907年的革命。1917年俄国十月社会主义革命的胜利，开辟了无产阶级社会主义革命的新纪元。从此，任何殖民地、半殖民地半封建国家的民主革命，只要是反对帝国主义的，就不再是旧的资产阶级和资本主义的世界革命的一部分，而是新的无产阶级社会主义革命的一部分。第二次世界大战以后，出现了资产阶级民主革命的特殊形式，即民族民主革命。在这一革命中，无产阶级和农民结成联盟，并同民族资产阶级建立统一战线，共同进行反对帝国主义、封建主义的革命斗争，争取民族独立和而解放，推翻封建专制的统治。这种无产阶级领导的民主资产阶级民主革命，其性质基本上依然是资产阶级民主主义的，但不是以建立资本主义社会和资产阶级专政的国家为目的，而是以建立无产阶级领导的、以工农联盟为基础的人民民主政权为目的，并为社会主义革命准备条件。它不属于旧的民主革命的范畴，而属于新的民主革命的范畴。在中国，1919年五四运动以前资产阶级领导的民主革命，称为旧民主主义革命;五四运动以后，无产阶级领导的民主革命，称为新民主主义革命。（金炳华，2003：346）
