定义

又称“思想方法”、“认识方法”，是指发挥人的各种思维功能来认识和把握客观对象的科学方法、工具或手段。或者说，思维方法是规范人们怎样进行思维，才能正确地认识和把握客观世界的认识论工具。一般分为三个层次：普遍适用的哲学思维方法；各门科学通用的思维方法；各门具体学科的特殊思维方法。通常所说的思维方法是哲学思维方法（）。哲学思维方法是从世界观和认识论的高度，来把握客观世界的一类思维方法，如唯物辩证法的思维方法亦即辩证思维方法，能够指导人们正确认识客观世界，而唯心论和形而上学的思维方法则将人们的思维引入死胡同，终究不能正确认识客观世界；通用的思维方法是人类最普遍使用的三种基本方法，即形象思维方法、抽象思维方法和灵感思维方法，人们在一切活动中都离不开这三种思维方法或独自或共同地发挥其作用；具体学科的思维方法是通过某些具体的思维活动，来认识和解决各种具体的实际问题的一类思维方法，如发散与收敛、纵向与横向、静态与动态、滞后与超前、顺向与逆向、分离与合并、相似与相异、单维与多维、系统分析与系统综合等思维方法。显然，哲学思维方法是高层次的思维方法，通用的思维方法是中层次的思维方法，具体学科的思维方法是低层次的思维方法，哲学思维方法可以指导中、低层次的思维方法，而中、低层次的思维方法则可以为哲学思维方法的丰富与深化提供崭新的科学素材。思维方法是不断变化发展的。人类初期，思维方法是原始的，后来逐渐形成初步的抽象思维方法。进入古代社会以后，出现了以直观和猜测为基础的广泛思辨为特点的古代思维，并普遍开始重视思维方法的研究，其最重要的成果是创立朴素辩证法和形式逻辑。在漫长的封建社会中，思维方法缓慢地发生变化。思维方法的重大进步是从14世纪末15世纪初开始的。随着生产和科学技术的进步，打开了人们的眼界，把具体方法上升到理论进行研究。创立具有现代科学形态的思维方法，其代表是培根的《新工具论》提出的三表法（存在表、缺乏表、程度表）。同时，也出现了孤立、静止的形而上学思维方法。18世纪中叶以来，以普遍联系和辩证发展为特点的思维方法逐步兴起，创立了全新的思维方法——唯物辩证法。作为思维方法的逻辑学有了新的突破，各种具体的思维方法都有新的发展。形而上学的思维方法就其形成于17到18世纪时的古典形式而言，在历史上曾对科学的发展起过一定的促进作用，但从18世纪末19世纪初开始，形而上学的思维方法已经成为阻碍科学发展的并与辩证思维方法相对立的、业已过时的思维方法。列宁在《谈谈辩证法问题》中曾指出：“形而上学的唯物主义的根本缺陷就是不能把辩证法应用于反映论，应用于认识的过程和发展”（列宁，1990：311）。19世纪末20世纪初，生产和科学迅速地发展起来，相继出现了一系列突破性的科学技术成就。唯物辩证法日益精确化，并不断丰富和发展起来。形象思维、灵感、直觉等思维方法越来越受到重视。特别是系统论、控制论、信息论等科技成就，对思维方法产生了深刻的变革。思维方法的发展，是从静态的、直线的、封闭的方式，向动态的、多向的、开放的方式前进的。马克思在《关于费尔巴哈的提纲》中曾指出：“人的思维是否具有客观的真理性，这
