定义

新思想（New Thought），唯心主义哲学运动，其思想基础是神性存在于个体之中。该运动宣传“至高者的无限性，人的神性，通过建设性思想的创造力量和服从居于内心的上帝的声音可体现人的无限可能性，居于内心的上帝是人们灵感、力量、健康和成功的源泉”。新思想不是一种宗教，（新思想.via: http://www.bowenwang.com.cn/philosophical-systems-and-branches-new-thought.htm）而是带有宗教色彩的思想运动。由宗教界人士发起并推动，为所谓“精神疗法运动”中自由主义的一翼。其目的不是建立新的宗教派别，而是改进人们在现有社会环境中的生活状态。（杨生茂等，2004：442）其创始人是缅因州波特兰的菲尼斯·P·昆比（1802—1866年），他采用了“精神治疗法”，他的思想和实践影响了许多人，包括基督教科学会的创办人玛丽·贝克·艾迪、基督教合一派的创始人查尔斯和莫特尔·菲尔莫尔等。
