中国高等院校哲学专业教材。《辩证唯物主义原理》一书的续篇。肖前、李秀林、汪永祥主编。由教育部组织编写。1983年人民出版社出版。共分九章：历史唯物主义是科学的历史观;人类社会和自然界;生产力和生产关系;经济基础和上层建筑；阶级、国家、革命;社会意识;科学及其在社会历史中的地位和作用；人民群众和个人在历史上的作用;社会有机体及其发展和进步。该书采取了“比较稳妥的、多数人可以接受的观点”，同时也表现出一些新的特点。试图体现马克思主义创始人关于在劳动发展中理解全部社会的思想。在论述基本原理时，注意对以往教科书中忽视或没有足够重视的一些原理的阐述，如劳动、生态平衡、人口调节、需要、物质利益、时代精神、个人意识、群体意识、社会心理、社会有机体、科学等等。该书分析和探讨了中国社会主义现代化建设中提出的某些重大的理论和实践问题。（金炳华，2003：928）
