定义

应用哲学，一般意义上是指运用基础哲学的理论和方法对特定对象（科学部门或实践课题）的哲学反思。西方学术界对应用哲学的理解有多种不同的含义，如：“把研究哲学应用于实践的途径，称为‘应用哲学’；把研究哲学理论与实践和科学的关系，称为‘应用哲学’；把‘应用哲学’看做哲学向系统化、综合化发展的成果；把哲学对局部问题的反思称为‘应用哲学’；称具体的部门哲学为‘应用哲学’”（金炳华，2003：710）。国内一些学者则认为“应用哲学是马克思主义哲学应有之义，因为马克思主义哲学的本质是批判的和革命的，这种哲学发展的实质是实践的”（金炳华，2003：710）。随着西方现代哲学的发展，应用哲学学科逐渐兴起，我国国内关于应用哲学的研究也逐渐发展起来，自二十世纪八十年代以来，已经召开过多次全国性的应用哲学研讨会。虽然国内对是否存在“应用哲学”、“应用哲学”与“哲学应用”之间的关系问题仍然存在着不同的看法，但西方现代哲学中，越来越多这方面的学科已经出现，如文化哲学、教育哲学、经济哲学、管理哲学、技术哲学等等，还出现了较多的有影响的研究论著和一些专门冠以研究应用哲学的论著，如“美国鲍灵格大学哲学教授L.I.卡茨纳所著《应用哲学》（第一卷)、英国学者M.马尔克伊所著《应用哲学与哲学家的实践》、美国哲学家黎曼的《世纪之交的应用哲学》等。在英国和美国还成立了“应用哲学学会”，创办了《国际应用哲学杂志》”（金炳华，2003：710）。
