Secular Songs (Suqu)

定义

又称俚曲。民间流行的通俗歌曲小调。一般其曲调简易单纯，曲辞率真自然，以五七言为主，间有和声；章句固定不变，有单曲亦有联章；富于地方色彩和民族特色。

Also known as folk songs referring to the then-popular songs and tunes. Generally these songs are of a simple melody in a natural and forthright language, with five or seven characters for each line, and sometimes sung in harmony. Besides, the lyrics are of a fixed pattern in sentence and section, and there can be a single song or group of songs with all of them demonstrating local and ethnic characteristics.
