从抽象上升到具体，是辩证逻辑的方法之一，指思维掌握具体并将其作为精神上的具体再现出来的方法（高清海，1988：114）。从抽象上升到具体方法中的抽象，是思维中的抽象，指客观事物某一方面的本质规定在思维中的反映（彭漪涟，2010：635）。从抽象上升到具体方法中的具体，指思维对事物各方面的本质规定的完整的反映，是思维中的具体，是许多抽象规定的综合（高清海，1988：114）。科学的认识不仅要求从具体到抽象，即把感性的具体事实作为科学抽象的依据和前提；也要求从抽象再上升到理性的具体，使关于客观事物“抽象的规定在思维行程中导致具体的再现”（金炳华等，2007：476）。“从抽象上升到具体，就是思维从开始形成各种简单的片面的规定，到形成复杂的全面的完整思想的过程，也就是思维从一级本质向二级本质以至更深层本质发展的过程， 以达到更深刻、更正确、更完全地反映客观事物的程度”（高清海，1988：114）。在哲学史上，黑格尔首先提出并详细阐明了从抽象上升到具体的逻辑方法。在《逻辑学》中，黑格尔从最初的“纯有”范畴到最后的“绝对理念”范畴的推演过程，就是由抽象进展到具体的过程。但黑格尔的从抽象上升到具体的方法具有唯心主义的性质（彭漪涟，2010：635）。马克思清除了黑格尔关于从抽象上升到具体思想的唯心主义性质和神秘主义性质，批判吸收其合理内核，将从抽象上升到具体思想建立在唯物主义反映论的基础之上，使其成为辩证思维的科学的思维方法（高清海，1988：114）。
