定义

法国人格主义用语。它用以表示个人超越自己的界限。人格的超越性有两种意义：一是指超越个人的范围而肯定他人和世界的存在。它认为作为人格主义哲学出发点的自我、人格是单一的、个别的自我，却不是唯一的，他必须以别人为前提，必须超出其自身以外。例如，存在主义因没有超越个人界限而陷入了主观主义。二是指与人的意向性有关的人的精神活动超出现有存在而朝向更高的存在的活动。人格主义者主要是在这种意义上使用，他们把这种超越活动当作不断超出现有存在的界限、不断面向未来的历史活动。它是一种创造活动，它使自然超出单纯的、抽象的自然界本身之外而在人的意识中再现出来并为人所改造，使自然成为人化的自然，即作为人的环境和对象。这种人格的超越性作为一种创造活动不受外在条件的制约，它本身就是一种自由，是人格的不断自我设计和选择，但这种自由、自我设计和选择又不是纯粹个人的任意活动，而是人格的一种合目的的活动，或者说是人格的不断自我完善的运动。它朝向某种绝对、圆满的存在，即上帝。这种看法接近基督教存在主义者马塞尔和雅斯贝斯的观点。但人格主义者大都不把绝对、上帝当作超越个人之外的彼岸世界的存在，而把它与超越现有存在的局限性的某种更圆满、更高级的自我融合起来，向绝对、上帝的超越的意义即向人的最完备、最圆满的自我实现的呼唤，是人格的升华（冯契，2001：1167）。
