定义

交往指由于共同活动的需要而在人们之间所产生的那种建立和发展相互接触的复杂和多方面的过程，它包括物质意义上的商业贸易、交通运输，也包含精神意义上的各种信息的传通。交往的主体可以是个人，也可以是社会团体、民族、国家。关于“交往”这个概念，恩格斯1894年讲了如下一句话：“......依靠了现代的交往方法，即依靠了铁路、电报、巨大的工业城市、报刊和有组织的人民集会“（刘建明，1993：933）。后来，马克思和恩格斯在交往一词的基础上派生出一系列词汇：交往形式、交往方法、交往关系、世界交往等等。根据不同的标准，交往可以进行多种划分。从内容上看，交往包括物质交往、精神交往、文化交往、人员交往等。从形式上看，交往包括生产中的交往、生活中的交往、物质和精神交换中的交往、分配中的交往和消费中的交往等。从范围上看，交往可能包括地球上存在的每一个民族或国家，包括人类历史长河中的每一个个人。从手段上看，交往可以借助于物质形式、语言和人们的活动来进行。从深度上看，交往既可以包括表层的器物的交往，也包括人们之间相互联系和结合方式上的交往，还可以包括深层次的思想、观念、意志、情感的交往。交往形式、关系等是随着生产力的发展而发展的。生产力的发展必然导致人们之间的交往内容、交往范围、交往手段、交往对象、交往形式和交往关系等发生变化，并使交往从种族内部和种族之间的交往，发展到广泛的地域问的交往，最后达到全球性的普遍交往。交往的作用是巨大的。通过交往，人们所取得的文明成果得以保存下来，并逐步成为全人类共同享有的社会财富，使人类的文明水平得到极大的提高。交往是个人发展为世界历史性的个人的重要条件，而且只有在全球范围内的普遍交往的基础上，共产主义才能实现（李淮春，1996：287）。
