存款准备金率也称为法定存款准备金或存储准备金（Deposit reserve），是指金融机构为保证客户提取存款和资金清算需要而准备的在中央银行的存款。存款准备金率的计算公式是中央银行要求的存款准备金除以存款总额。因此，通过调整存款准备金率，中央银行就可以影响金融机构的信贷扩张能力，从而间接地调控货币供应量。存款准备金是风险准备金，不能够用于发放贷款。存款准备金率的大小，反映国家政策的紧缩与否及紧缩或膨胀力度。存款准备金率的变动对商业银行的作用过程有三个：增长、制度和发展。增长就是指“当中央银行提高法定准备金率时，商业银行可提供放款及创造信用的能力就下降”。制度就是指“在存款准备金制度下，金融机构不能将其吸收的存款全部用于发放贷款，必须保留一定的资金即存款准备金，以备客户提款的需要，因此存款准备金制度有利于保证金融机构对客户的正常支付”。发展就是指“中央银行通过调整存款准备金率，可以影响金融机构的信贷扩张能力，从而间接调控货币供应量”（存款准备金率. via:
