定义

《群众》是中国共产党机关刊物，是党在抗日战争时期和第三次国内革命战争时期在国民党统治区及海外公开出版的政治性理论刊物。周刊，后来改为半月刊，最早在1937年12月在汉口创刊，1938年12月迁至重庆出版，1946年3月又迁至上海出版，先后由中共中央长江局、南方局领导。《群众》期刊以宣传中共抗日救国十大纲领和中国共产党全面抗战路线为方针，先后发表了学习和传播马克思主义译著的文章。武汉时期侧重与宣传民众抗日和民主活动的开展，鼓舞民心，加强民众抗日斗争的信念。重庆时期侧重与宣传中共全面抗战路线，分析当时战局。上海时期侧重于侧重于新闻报道和评论。1949年10月20日停刊，共出143期。作为当时传播马克思主义思想的重要阵地，对宣传中国共产党反对内战、反对独裁、主张和平民主的立场，对促进国民党统治区的民主运动具有重大意义，在当时的国民党统治区和海外都有广泛影响。同时《群众》也是中国共产党在民主革命时期出版的时间最长的一个刊物，是中国共产党在国民党统治区公开出版的唯一大型党刊，为扩大党在国民党统治区的影响、壮大党的抗日民族统一战线起到了重要作用（金炳华：2003：912）。
