| 释义 | political show 近年来官场上刮起一股“政治秀”之风。以宣传执政理念（principle of the government）、为民树立信心（build up the people's confidence in the government）等的政治秀，并不是坏事，甚至值得鼓励。各国政客都善于搞政治秀，主要表现为“形象秀（show/build up one's public image）”、“亲民秀（affinity show）”，目的是得到选票，拉拢选民（win over voters）。中国官场有些政治秀是官员为了谋取个人利益而作秀，主要形式为： “政绩秀（make a show of the achievements of one's official career）”——许多地方出现的为追求急功近利（eager for instant success and quick profits）、耗资巨大、华而不实（flashy but useless）的“政绩工程”（showoff project）、“面子工程（image project; face job）”就是其结果。有时新上任的官员为了树立自己的形象工程，前任的政绩工程往往会成为“胡子工程”或“烂尾工程”。更有的谎报成绩，在统计数字里弄虚作假（resort to deception by conjuring statistics），或“报喜不报忧（report only what is good but withhold the unpleasant）”等，也都属于这一类。 “清廉秀（make a show of one's honest and upright character）”——这种秀往往是为了掩盖自己的腐败（cover up one's corruption）。真正的清廉是不用作秀的。“承诺秀（make a show by giving many promises）”——许空头愿（empty promise，相当于lip service）而实际上做不到。这样的人英语里称为armchair politician。 不受欢迎的“秀”还可以列出。 “听证秀（make a show by holding hearings）”——即常沦为形式主义走过场的听证会（hearing）。 “学位秀（make a show of one's academic achievements）”——除了少数人买假文凭，还有一些官员凭借手中的权力通过各种办法搞到合法的“博士”头衔（doctoral title）。 “微博秀（micro-blog show）”——不少官员为了赶时髦（swim with the current）。在网上开博客，以拉近和民众的关系，但没有什么实质内容，还往往给自己脸上贴金（put feathers in one's hat/blow one's own trumpet）。 政治秀产生的根源来自官员对上负责（responsible only to one's superior）的体制，因为我国现有的政治体制当中，官员的产生和任命文往往来自上级党委或政府，官员也自然形成对上负责的执政心理，许多秀是为了迎合上司认可（obtain approval of one's superior）。这类“政治秀”的最大危害是拉大官民对立情绪（sharpen the antagonism between officials and the people）。这是因为假政绩、假清廉使得官员失信于民（break people's faith in oneself）。 |
